Joaquin Rams Baseball Park on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 –
The Joaquin Rams varsity baseball team wrapped up their season on Tuesday and the school recognized senior athletes, Tate Bass, TJ Hawkins, Kaden Miller, Ethan McGhegen, Jake Neal, Justyn Brown and Duncan McCann, before the first pitch for their contributions to the program.
The Rams then faced the District 23 2A champion Garrison Bulldogs with the Bulldogs taking an early 1-0 run lead in the top of the first inning. Garrison ballooned their lead to 8-0 in the top of the second inning with a rally which saw them bring 13 batters to the plate. The Bulldogs were stingy and allowed only four hits this game, one each to Joaquin’s: Carter Graves, TJ Hawkins, Tate Bass, and Ethan McGhegen.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 13-0 with a 5-run third inning and eventually took a 20-0 run win.
Shelton Beavers earned the win pitching for GHS and he struck out seven batters and walked two in five innings of work. He also hit a 3-run homerun in the top of the third frame to help his cause.
Joaquin used 6 pitchers who combined for 4 strikeouts, gave up 10 hits and walked 15.
Garrison will go into the Bi-district round of the playoffs next week with a 24-3 record and a perfect 14-0 conference mark. Joaquin finished at 4-10, in District 23, and 9-12 overall.
