October 9, 2024 - Today I am announcing my candidacy for the two-year unexpired term on the Center ISD Board of Trustees. The election is in November and will be on the same ballot as the other three openings but will be located separately from them as it is an unexpired term.
I am married to Amber Horn Dubea and have lived in Center for the past 32 years. We have two sons who are proud graduates of Center ISD, as is Amber. Our boys were involved in FFA, UIL and Athletics and were able to graduate with college credit hours applicable to the degree program of their choice.
As with many small rural communities, the school is the heartbeat of the community. Our school system is foundational to the success of our community. We must ensure that Center ISD is the school of choice in Shelby County, and that is my number one objective should I earn a spot on the board.
Service isn’t new to me, I have served on multiple boards of civic and business organizations through the years, such as, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, Center Youth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball Texas Board, and Shelby County Bass Anglers. My prior service has taught me the importance of listening to the voices of those we serve to meet their needs. I have worked at the Hallmark Center Fixture Operations facility for 31 years. I do not shy away from tough decisions. As a school board member, we have a duty and responsibility to do what is right regardless of the popularity of the outcome.
If elected, I will work tirelessly to listen to the needs of our students, teachers, administrators, and community to ensure we create a harmonic and cohesive ecosystem. I look forward to helping Center ISD return to the prominent and once held position, as The School of Choice in Shelby County!
