Center Roughriders Gymnasium on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 –
The Center Roughriders Varsity Boys Basketball Team defeated the West Orange Stark Mustangs by a 53-47 score on Wednesday. The game was a close non-conference affair which saw West Orange Stark leading by a 14-12 score at the end of the opening stanza.
By the halftime intermission Center had earned a one-point lead at 23-22. The Mustangs had overtaken the Roughriders in the third frame and led by three points with seconds left in the period but a 3-pointer by Emonte Cross tied the game at 37-37 going into the final period.
The fourth quarter saw Center outpace WOHS by a 16-10 point margin to earn the win.
Jamarion Evans led CHS with 21 points. Cross was also in double figures with a 10 point outing.
Mustang Tre Wardlow had 20 points for the day.
Center will next travel to Jacksonville High School on Saturday, January 2, 2020 for boys pre-district action which will include 9th grade, JV and Varsity action which begins at noon.
