Center Horseshoe Ballpark on Friday, March 24, 2023 –
The Center Roughriders varsity baseball team fell to the Carthage Bulldogs at home on Friday by a 6-1 score. Center is now 1-4 in District 17 4A conference play and they are 7-9-2 overall. Carthage is currently in second place in the district at 4-1 and they are 13-4-2 for the season.
The game was scoreless until the Bulldogs rallied in the top of the fourth inning. The ‘Dogs used four hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly to take a 4-0 lead.
Center scored their run in the bottom of the fourth inning when, TJ Belin reached base on a Bulldog’s error, moved into scoring position on a Lance Wilburn infield hit, and he then scored on a Bulldogs throwing error. Center trailed 4-1.
Carthage went up 5-1 when Todd Register tripled in the top of the fifth and later scored on a sacrifice fly for the game’s final run.
Center will host the Kilgore Bulldogs on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Center’s Horseshoe Ballpark at 7 p.m.
