Roughriders Finish Scrimmages, Head to 2016 Football Season

August 20, 2016 – Last Thursday, The Center Roughriders headed to Tatum for both varsity football teams final scrimmage preparations of the season. The event moved indoors due to flash floods.

The two teams met up last year in conference competition with Center coming out on top by a 42-7 score. This year Tatum got the upper hand, during scrimmage play, with their biggest damage being a 22-yard touchdown reception by Shay Rodgers, and a 32-yard run up the middle, for a score, by Austin McGee.

Center moved the ball well at times but struggled keeping their drives going.

Last season, Head Football Coach Barry Bowman's first with the 'Riders, Center posted an improved 10-3 mark, after going 2-7 in 2014.

Both teams got much needed work during the scrimmage and were working on areas of their game which needed improvement before the regular season starts next week.

Center will be at home on Friday, August 26 when they face the Rusk Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
