Roughriders Suffer 4-0 No-Hit Loss to Eagles in District Home Opener

Center Roughrider Ballpark on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 –

The Center Roughriders Varsity Baseball Team was unable to hit safely during their District 17-4A opener against the Rusk Eagles. The ‘Riders sole base runner came in the final inning when Garren Dubea drew a free base with two outs.

Rusk Eagles pitcher, and Vanderbilt University signee, JD Thompson recorded 20 strikeouts for the day and allowed only the one single walk. The game improved the Rusk conference record to 1-0 and they stand at 13-4 overall for the season.

Rusk hit safely eight times and walked safely 4 times during the contest. Their big inning was the top of the fourth when they rallied for four hits, a walk, and scored all four of their runs.

Center is now 4-11 overall and 0-1 in District 17 action. They will next travel to Rusk on Thursday, April 1, 2021 where JV will start at 4:30 p.m. and the ‘Riders will once again face the Eagles for varsity play at 7 p.m.
