SCBA February Tournament Starts 2015 Season, 43 Teams Participate

February 13, 2015 - The Shelby County Bass Anglers began the 2015 tournament season last weekend on Toledo Bend out of Holly Park Marina. 43 teams showed up in hopes of capturing the largest 5 fish limit of bass and bragging rights. The warming trends had the fish feeding and the weights showed proof of it!

Jason Wells and John Olive had a textbook day of fishing and were able to cull out the winning stringer weighing 25.43lbs. The second place overall bass of 7.45lbs anchored their winning sack. The duo will also receive first place plaques sponsored by Campbell Portable Buildings.

Shane Murphy and Chance Moton wrapped up the second place check with a big sack of Toledo bass weighing 20.73lbs. Shane also caught the overall big bass of the event with a lunker tipping the scales at 9.49lbs! Third place was seized by the father/son team of Vic and Cole Cooper. Their pay window sack weighed 18.26lbs.

The fourth and final place was captured by another father and son team of Carl and Josh Jernigan with 17.30lbs of quality Toledo Bend bass. This month’s combo pot was won by Shane Murphy/Chance Moton teamed with Levi Willoughby/Kevin Oswalt with a combined team weight of 25.52lbs.

The next event for the SCBA is the annual Sand Bass tournament at Logansport on March 14th, followed by the monthly pre tournament meeting on March 17th at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The March tournament will be held at Cassells Boykin Park on Lake Sam Rayburn the weekend of March 21-22. For more details, check out our website at www.shelbycountybassanglers.com.
