Scotty Rhodes to Speak at TAGHS August Meeting

August 11, 2017 - If you grew up in Timpson, Scotty Rhodes probably knows who you are...and who your parents are...and their siblings! Possessed of an incredible encyclopedic memory about the people and history of Timpson, “Mr. Big” has been the “go-to guy” for information about Timpson citizenry for many years.

Born here in the late 1940s, Scotty is the only child of the Reverend Bob Rhodes and his wife, Mathilde. Descended from one of the extended families who came to Timpson from Tignall, Georgia around the beginning of the 20th century, Scotty grew up hearing about the early settlers of Timpson...and remembered it. He continued to amass his knowledge of the local citizenry for over the next half century...and remembered it!

The Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society invites the public to hear Scotty recall a minute portion of this knowledge at their August 16 meeting at 2PM in the new meeting room of the Timpson Public Library, located on the corner of Austin and Bremond Streets.
