November 11, 2025 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society's (TAGHS) own Shannon Ramsey will present our program Wednesday, November 19, at 2PM, in the Timpson Public Library annex. His audience will learn about Shannon's branch of the Ramsey family and any connections it has to other Ramsey lines in our area.
Shannon, a retired oil industry executive and technology leader, enjoyed a career of more than 4 decades with one company. His experience in accounting and in computerized financial systems culminated in a specialization in retail store automation and Point of Service (POS) development and deployment to Valero Energy Corporation. As Director of Store Automation, Shannon led major technology rollouts including the company-wide migration to new POS and back office accounting platforms, the deployment of broadband connectivity to over 1,400 stores, and the successful conversion of 1300 outlets to a new credit network in only 56 days. He also served as Board Member of the Shamrock Federal Credit Union, providing oversight on strategy, risk assessment, and financial compliance
Originally from Amarillo, TX, Shannon now operates a 75 acre farm, focusing on feed crops for cattle. He is an active member of First Baptist Church as well as TAGHS. Shannon holds an ABA from West Texas A&M University and enjoys spoiling grandchildren, traveling, and wood working.
Shannon's Timpson roots run deep, as his great grandfather, James Marion Ramsey, brought his family to Timpson in the late 1850s. His grandfather, William Yancy, was born on the farm in 1860. Shannon's father, William Leonard, and siblings were all born in a house located not far from where Shannon, and his wife, Judy, currently reside, moving there in 2007.
