March 12, 2020 - The Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center received a grant in the amount of $25,500 from T.L.L. Temple Foundation to purchase a top quality camera and digital image storage system for our onsite forensic medical exam program. The addition of the Secure Digital Forensic Imaging (SDFI) Camera System and the SDFI Store and Send System is the latest step the SCCAC has taken in our effort to make a difficult experience easier for child victims of sexual assault.

This equipment ensures that we are capturing, preserving, and sharing evidence with investigators in the best and most secure way possible. Our nurses, who have been specifically trained to provide sexual assault forensic exams for children, recently completed training on the use of the new camera and computer system. We are grateful to T.L.L. Temple Foundation for supporting our efforts to serve the children of Shelby and San Augustine Counties.

The T.L.L. Temple Foundation works alongside families and communities to build a thriving Deep East Texas and to alleviate poverty, creating access and opportunities for all. In support of its mission, the foundation makes grants in the areas of education, economic development and community revitalization, health, human services, arts and culture, and conservation and the environment.
