October 20, 2026 - Shelby County Extension invites youth to join a festive Youth Sewing Mini Camp on November 24-25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Shelby County Extension Office, located at 266 Nacogdoches Street in Center. The is $20 for non-4-H members and the registration deadline is November 9, 2026.
Participants will learn basic sewing skills while creating a personalized Christmas stocking they can enjoy for years to come. The camp is designed to help youth develop confidence, creativity, and practical sewing skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The camp is open to both 4-H and non-4-H youth, and beginners are welcome. The registration fee is $20 per participant. Participants will need to bring:
• 1 yard of cotton fabric for the body of the stocking
• ½ yard of coordinating cotton fabric for the cuff
Space is limited, and advanced registration is required.
"This camp is a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn valuable sewing skills, express their creativity, and create a special holiday keepsake while making new friends," said Feleshia Thompson, County Extension Agent.
