12-Week Healthy Living Program Begins January 27, 2026

January 8, 2026 - Start the new year with a commitment to better health! The Shelby County Extension Office is launching “Get Up, Get Fit,” a 12-week program designed to promote healthy living.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Shelby County Extension Office, 266 Nacogdoches Street, Center, TX
  • Cost: $20 per person (includes food demonstrations)

Led by County Extension Agent Feleshia L. Thompson, the program covers:

  • Nutrition for everyday health
  • Physical activity strategies
  • Stress and sleep management
  • Smart dining out tips

Challenge Highlights:

  • Winners determined by percentage of weight lost
  • Bi-weekly weigh-ins; final weigh-in the week of April 20, 2026
  • Top three local winners recognized at a celebration on May 5, 2026

“This challenge is about more than prizes—it’s about helping people achieve a healthier lifestyle,” says Thompson.
