Shelby County Football Heads to Week 5

Tuesday, September 24, 2079 –

All Five Shelby County varsity football teams will each have games this week. Center and Shelbyville will be finishing their non-conference games while the three remaining county teams will be facing their first district foes during the regular season.

The Roughriders fell in a tough road battle at Henderson last week which saw the Lions walk away with a 63-7 win. Center now stands at 1-3 for the season and will try to get back in the win column with a win over the Grace Community Cougars who are 3-1 this season. Grace Community won at home over Wills Point last week by a 42-17 score. Kickoff is on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Roughriders Stadium, at 7:30 p.m.

The Joaquin Rams are back in the win column after a hard-fought 16-14 road win over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs. The Rams are now 3-1 and they open up District 11 2-A play at home against the Garrison Bulldogs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Garrison is 1-2 and are on a 2-game losing streak after falling to Alto and San Augustine.

  

Shelbyville is 3-1 this season and they beat First Baptist Academy last Friday by a 68-0 margin. They will host Shepard High School on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 7 p.m. The Shepard Pirates are 1-2 and lost to Orangefield by a 27-21 score.

The Tenaha Tigers suffered a lopsided 67-14 loss on the road to the San Augustine Wolves last week. The Tigers are now 3-1 and they will regroup and head across Shelby County to face the Timpson Bears on Friday, at Timpson. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. The Bears won at West Sabine High School by a 14-6 score last week. Their season record stands at 2-2 and they are on a 2-game winning streak.
