Shelby County Football Heads to Week 6

Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams have games this week. Two local teams will be taking a week off with a bye week.

The Center Roughriders won at home last Friday with a 63-42 win over Grace Community of Tyler. This week they head to Brownsboro for their last non-district matchup with the Bears. Center is now 2-3, The Bears are 1-4. Kickoff is on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

The Joaquin Rams shocked the Garrison Bulldogs by taking a 45-23 district win at home. The Rams are 4-1 and will head into a bye-week for the second week of District 11 2A play. On October 11 they will play Linden -Kildare for their second conference game. The L-KHS Tigers are 2-2. They won at Harleton High School last week 29-21.

The Shelbyville Dragons will also be off this Friday and they will travel to Deweyville (3-1) on October 11, 2019. The Dragons are 4-1 this year and they defeated Shepard last Friday 14-7 at Dragons Stadium.

The Tenaha Tigers and Timpson Bears started District 11 2A play with Tenaha hosting the Bears. Tenaha took a 39-6 conference win in the matchup and they will host Beckville on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 6 p.m.  The Tigers are 4-1, The Beckville Bearcats are 1-3 and last lost to Hemphill 70-28.

The Timpson Bears are now 2-3 and They will travel to Harleton on Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Wildcats Stadium. Harleton is 2-2. They lost 29-21 at Linden-Kildare last week.
