Shelby County Football This Week

Four of five Shelby County varsity football teams have conference games this week. Everyone’s hopes of making the playoffs are still alive.

The Center Roughriders will host the Huntington Red Devils this Friday, November 1, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. Center beat Shepherd High School in overtime last week by a 42-35 score. The ‘Riders are 5-3 and hold a 2-0 District 9 4A mark with two games remaining. The Red Devils are 1-7, 1-1 and they won their first game of the season last Friday over Tarkington 28-6.

The Joaquin Rams beat the Beckville Bearcats 27-10 last week and moved their record to 7-1, 4-0. The Rams will host the Tenaha Tigers at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. Tenaha is on a three-game losing streak after losing to Garrison 25-7 last week. The Tigers season record is at 4-4 and they are 1-3 in District 11 2A action.

The Shelbyville Dragons are 7-1 overall and they are 3-0 in District 22 2A play. They won their homecoming last week over Hull-Daisetta 51-16. The Dragons go to Groveton and will kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday at Indians Stadium. Groveton is 6-2, 2-1. They beat Deweyville 62-0 on the road last week.

The Timpson Bears got their second District 21 2A win last week with a 35-0 win over Linden-Kildare. Timpson is 2-3 in conference action and 4-5 overall and will enjoy a bye week this Friday. The Bears will next face Beckville, at Bearcats Stadium, on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. The Bearcats are 2-6 overall and 1-3 in District 21 2A.
