Shelby County Football Week 2

Four of Shelby County’s Five varsity football teams won their regular season openers last week.

The Center Roughriders took a 38-7 home win over the Jacksonville Indians. This Friday September 6, 2024 the ‘Riders head to Spring Hill High School to face the Panthers who lost their home opener 50-48 to the Sabine Cardinals. Kickoff at Panthers Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Joaquin Rams won their home opener with the Frankston Indians by a 65-44 score. The Rams travel to Beckville to face the Bearcats who won at San Augustine by a 37-12 score. Kickoff is at Bearcats Stadium is at 7p.m on Friday.

The Shelbyville Dragons won at Troup by a 53-40 score last Friday. This week they face New Boston in Shelbyville Dragons Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday. New Boston will be beginning their regular season with this game.

The Tenaha Tigers fell to Elysian Fields last Friday by a 51-20 score. The Tigers will host the West Sabine Tigers at Tenaha Tigers Stadium on Thursday, September 5, at 7 p.m. West Sabine lost to the visiting Timpson Bears by a 39-22 score last week. This week the Timpson Bears will host the Lovelady Lions on Friday at 7 p.m. Lovelady won at Elkhart Elks Stadium by a 42-22 score to begin their season last Friday.
