Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams won their games in Week 2.
The Center Roughriders are 2-0 after beating the Spring Hill Panthers on the road by a 49-28 score last week. This Friday, September 13, 2024 the Roughriders will host the North Desoto Griffins at Roughriders Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The Griffins are 1-0 this season after a 33-21 home win over the Union Parrish Farmers.
The Joaquin Rams fell to the Beckville Bearcats by a 28-24 score. The Rams are 1-1 and will host the Tenaha Tigers at Joaquin High School on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Ram Stadium. Tenaha is 0-2 after a 66-21 home loss to West Sabine.
The Shelbyville Dragons are 2-0 for the season after a 40-27 home win over New Boston. The Dragons will be having Homecoming and will host the Waskom Wildcats Friday and kickoff will be at 7 p.m. Waskom is 1-1 after a 63-12 home win over the Hemphill Hornets.
The Timpson Bears held off the Lovelady Lions by a 50-48 score and they now stand at 2-0. The Bears will host Palestine-Westwood on Friday at John H Eakin Bears Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The Palestine-Westwood Panthers are 2-0 after they defeated the visiting San Augustine Wolves by a 56-0 score.
