This week four of the county’s five varsity football teams competed in pre-district games. The Timpson Bears enjoyed a bye week.
The Center Roughriders took a 48-23 road win over the Daingerfield Tigers to improve their record to 4-0. The ‘Riders will host the Madisonville Mustangs at Roughriders Stadium at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024. The Mustangs are 2-2 after suffering a 62-35 loss at home to the Columbus Cardinals.
The Joaquin Rams are 2-2 after taking a 64-19 loss on the road at Grand Saline. The Rams will host the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs for Joaquin’s 2024 Homecoming game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 27. The Bulldogs are 2-2 after beating visiting Elkhart by a 21-8 score.
The Shelbyville Dragons lost at Mount Enterprise on Friday by a 36-35 score. The Dragons are 3-1 and will travel to Carlisle Indians Stadium on Thursday, September 26 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Indians are 0-4 after a 49-20 loss to the Brook Hill Guard last week.
The Tenaha Tigers broke into the win column with a 41-0 homecoming win over the Linden-Kildare Tigers on Saturday. The Tigers are 1-3 and will host Lovelady on Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. The Lovelady Lions are 2-2 after a 28-14 home loss to the Garrison Bulldogs last week.
Timpson is 2-1 this season and they will come off the bye week, to travel to neutral Longview High School, to face Wolfe City on Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m. The Wolves are 2-1 and they fell at home by a 54-42 score to Collinsville on Friday.
