Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams took wins and two teams took losses during district competition last week.
The Center Roughriders lost by a 59-21 score at Carthage last week. The ‘Riders are 5-1 overall and 0-1 in District 8 4A-2 competition. They will try to rebound at Bullard High School on Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Panthers Stadium. The Panthers are 2-4 overall and 1-0 after a 28-19 home win last week over Rusk.
The Joaquin Rams are 4-2 overall and 1-0 in District 11 2A-1 play after defeating the San Augustine Wolves 47-13 at home last week. The Rams will travel to Hemphill Hornets Stadium on Friday, Oct 18 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Hornets are 1-5, 0-1 in District 11 action after falling by a 35-22 score to Timpson last week. Timpson is now 3-2, 1-0 after the win and will host the Shelbyville Dragons on Friday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. at John H Eakin Stadium. The Dragons are 5-1 after opening District 11 2A-1 play with a 43-42 home win over Garrison.
The Tenaha Tigers are 1-6 overall and 0-3 in District 11 2A-1 action after falling to visiting Alto by a 28-26 score. The Tigers travel to Mount Enterprise on Friday October 18 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Wildcats Stadium. The Wildcats are 5-1, 1-0. They lost at Grapeland by a 44-0 score last week.
