Shelby County Football This Week, Week 6

Week five saw three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams win their games and two lost.

The Center Roughriders beat Canton on the road by a 57-34 score. The win gave Center their first District 8 4A-2 win. They are 1-0 in the conference and 4-1 overall. For the Roughriders 2023 Homecoming on Friday, September 29, 2023 they will host the Rusk Eagles (3-1). Rusk won at home against Alvarado 33-30.

The Joaquin Rams fell to county rivals, the Shelbyville Dragons in both team’s first District 11 2A-1 matchup, at Dragons Stadium by a 48-14 score. Joaquin is now 0-4. They will host the 5-0 Garrison Bulldogs on Friday, September 29 at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs beat the visiting West Sabine Tigers by a 64-0 score. Shelbyville is 3-1 they will have a bye this week and will play Garrison on October 6.

The Tenaha Tigers lost at Dekalb High by a 64-28 score. The Tigers are now 3-2 for the season. They will have a bye this week to begin District 10-2A-2 play. On October 6 they will kickoff at Price Carlisle  Indians Stadium to begin conference action.

The Timpson Bears are 5-0. They won 53-0 at Grapeland to open District 11 2A-1 play.  They will enjoy Timpson’s 2023 Homecoming at Bears Stadium against San Augustine on Friday, September 29. Action kicks off at 7 p.m. to begin Distric 11 2A-1 competition. San Augustine is 2-2 and lost at Anahuac by a 46-26 score intheirr final  non-conference game.
