Shelby County Football This Week- Week 7

Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams played games last week. Shelbyville and Tenaha were off on bye weeks.

The Center Roughriders improved their District 8 4A-2 record to 2-0 with a 76-48 Homecoming win over the Rusk Eagles. The ‘Riders are 5-1 overall this season. They will have a bye for this Friday October 6, 2023. They will travel to Van High School on October 13. Van is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

The Joaquin Rams fell at home to Garrison by a 49-20 score. They are at 0-5 this season and 0-2 in District 11 2A-1. The Rams will travel to Grapeland on Friday, October 6 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Sandies Stadium. Grapeland won at West Sabine by a 52-44 score. They are 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The Shelbyville Dragons were off on Friday. They are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in District 11 2A-1. They will travel to Garrison this Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Bulldogs Stadium. Garrison is 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference action. They won 49-20 at Joaquin last week.

The Tenaha Tigers were on a bye last Friday. They are 3-2 overall this season and will begin District 10 2A-2 play on Friday with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Indians Stadium. The Indians are 1-4 this season and will be playing their first conference game as well.

The Timpson Bears beat visiting San Augustine by a 72-6 score last Friday in the Bears 2023 Homecoming. The Bears are 6-0 and 2-0 in the conference. They will have an open bye week for Friday October 6. They will go to West Sabine on October 13.
