This week all five Shelby County varsity football teams will be facing off in district competition.
The Center Roughriders come off an open week to face the Van Vandals, at Van on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. Center is 5-1 overall and 2-0 in District 8 4A-2. Van is 6-1 and 3-0 in District 8. They beat Rusk last week 35-3.
The Joaquin Rams got their first win of the year, by a 46-14 score, on the road against Grapeland. The Rams are 1-5 overall and 1-2 in District 11 2A-1 play. This week the Rams host the San Augustine Wolves for Joaquin’s 2023 Homecoming on Friday, at 7 p.m. The Wolves are 2-4, 0-2 in district competition. They lost to West Sabine last week by a 50-23 score.
The Shelbyville Dragons are 3-2, 1-1. They fell at Garrison by a 49-14 score. The Dragons will host the Grapeland Sandies on Thursday, October 12 at 7 p.m. Grapeland is 2-5 overall and 1-2 in District 11 2A-1.
The Tenaha Tigers are 4-2 overall and 1-0 in District 10-2A-2 after a 47-30 road win at Price Carlisle. The Tigers will face the Alto Yellowjackets on Friday at 7 p.m. at Alto. AHS is 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference. They fell 54-28 at Mount Enterprise last week.
The Timpson Bears are 6-0 overall and 2-0 in District 11 2A-1. They were open last week. They will travel to West Sabine on Friday. The Tigers are 3-4, 1-2 in the conference.
