Shelby County Official Completes County Elections Academy

April 2, 2026 — Shelby County Elections Administrator, Nancy Adams, recently completed the 2026 County Elections Academy, a two-day online training hosted March 30-31 by the Texas Association of Counties. The program provides county officials with practical tools and up-to-date guidance to help them run elections that are fair, secure and efficient.

The academy brought together county election leaders and representatives from the Texas Secretary of State’s office to share insights and best practices. Sessions covered key topics such as voter registration, poll worker training, record retention and election audits. These areas play a critical role in protecting election integrity and maintaining public trust in the electoral process.

“Ensuring accessible and secure elections is a top priority for our county,” Adams said. “The County Elections Academy gives us valuable tools and insights to better serve our voters with transparency and accountability.”

“Elections are one of the most important responsibilities of county government,” TAC Executive Director Susan M. Redford said. “The County Elections Academy gives officials the opportunity to strengthen their expertise, connect with peers and uphold election integrity for all Texans.”

Since launching in 2022, the County Elections Academy has alternated between in-person and virtual formats each year. In-person conferences are held in odd-numbered years, while online sessions take place in even-numbered years.
