Shelby County Schools Enduring Heat as Teams Get Closer to 2022 Football Season

All five Shelby County high school football teams will begin preparing for the 2022 football season next week. August 1st will mark the first day teams are allowed to conduct non-contact conditioning drills.

The Center Roughriders, Joaquin Rams, Shelbyville Dragons, Tenaha Tigers, and Timpson Bears will surely face challenges as this year’s heatwave is forecasted to continue to see temperatures in the mid-high 90’s next week. Keeping participants hydrated is sure to be a high priority.

August 6th will be the first day teams can hold contact practices. On August 11th teams can hold scrimmages with opponents.

Regular season games will begin on August 25-27th. The post season playoffs will begin November 10th and run through December 17th.
