Shelby County Varsity Football Teams Head to Area Round of Football Playoffs

Three of Shelby County’s five varsity football teams have avoided elimination and they will head to the Area Round of the UIL Football Playoffs.

The Shelbyville Dragons (7-4) defeated the Carlisle Indians by a 53-43 score last week. They will head to Athens High School on Friday, November 19, 2021 for an area round elimination playoff with the Holland Hornets (8-3) at 7p.m. the Dragons are the home team. Admission is $5. District, coaches, and senior citizen passes will be accepted. Dragons Fans are invited to help send-off their football team by lining the roadway in downtown Shelbyville from the gym to the bank at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 19th.

The Tenaha Tigers (9-2) beat the Burkeville Mustangs by a 62-14 score last week. They will travel to Trinity High School on Friday, November 19 for a 7 p.m. kickoff with the Chilton Pirates (10-1).

The Timpson Bears (9-0) defeated the Frankston Indians 62-0 last week. They will face the (8-3) Thorndale Bulldogs, at Fairfield High School, at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 19.
