Shelby County World War I Observance

March 31, 2017 - On April 7th, 1917, the United States entered World War I, then known as the World War.  To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of this momentous event, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary will hold an observance and wreath laying at the Veterans Memorial on the Grounds of the historic courthouse.

The program will be held Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at 10:00 am. All Americans who served during this time will be remembered along with the 507 from Shelby County known to date.

As always, the public is invited to pay tribute and honor their fellow Americans who laid down their lives for our country.  More information call Post Quartermaster Larry Hume, 598-2976, message me on facebook or email chief@chiefimaging.com.  Over the months until we celebrate wars end on Veterans Day, November 11, 1918 we would like to get as accurate accounting of Shelby County WW I Veterans as possible.  If there is one in your family please contact QM Hume.
