The Shelbyville Dragons varsity basketball team has advanced through the UIL Bi-District round of the boy’s varsity playoffs by defeating the Alto Yellowjackets by a 76-58 score. The Dragons came in as the first-place representative of District 22-2A. Alto was fourth-place in District 21 2A.
Shelbyville wasted no time as they jumped out to a 23-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. By halftime they held a 41-32 lead over Alto. The third stanza saw SHS boost their lead to 63-48.
Leading scorer for Shelbyville was Jay Buckley with 27 points. Kolby Parker added 20 points to the Dragon’s tally and Brayden Hand helped out with three 3-pointers for nine points. Alto was headed by Skyler Atkin with 18 points.
The Dragon will head to the Area round to face Broaduss, the second-place representative of District 23 2A. Time and date will be announced at a later time.
