October 31, 2025 - On Wednesday, October 29th, the Shelbyville High School Dragon Band once again proved that hard work, talent, and pride can create something truly exceptional. Competing among the best in Texas at the UIL State Military Marching Contest, the Dragon Band earned the Bronze Medal, a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about the dedication of the students, directors, and the entire Shelbyville ISD community.
The Dragons delivered not one, but two of their finest performances of the season during both the preliminary and finals rounds. “The band put two of their best performances on the field during the prelim and finals round. This contest is one that we work towards every year, and it is a great honor and testament to the hard work and dedication of our band students to not only qualify for the contest, and then make it to the finals, but to medal.”
This achievement didn’t happen overnight. It is the culmination of countless early mornings, late nights, and long hours spent on the practice field perfecting every note and step. The Dragon Band’s journey to state is one of perseverance and teamwork, reflecting the spirit that defines Shelbyville itself.
“We are incredibly proud of the band and all of the work that they have put in this marching season. We also greatly appreciate the support of our Shelbyville faculty, staff, administration, and our wonderful Shelbyville community. We are looking forward to taking this success and building upon it. It’s a Great Day to be a Shelbyville Dragon!”
