May 23, 2019 - Shelbyville High School introduces the graduating class of 2019 and announces valedictorian and salutatorian.
Valedictorian - Mattison Clay
Mattison Clay is the daughter of Bryan and Laurie Clay. Mattison is a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa, and Beta Club. She has been involved in band for six years and has also been a member of the Drill Team for four years- serving as Lieutenant this current year. Mattison also participated in softball for two years and volleyball for one year.
Upon graduation, Mattison will attend Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Biology. Then, she plans to further her education by attending medical school. Afterward, Mattison desires to pursue a successful career as a Neonatal Surgeon. Mattison would like to thank her family, friends, and God for their continued love, support, and guidance throughout her high school career.
Salutatorian - Samantha Ferrebee
I am the daughter of Earl Ferrebee and Shannon Ferrebee. Throughout high school I have participated in many extracurricular activities. I participated in marching band for six years, advancing to the finals at state twice. I also advanced to state in solo and ensemble twice. I participated in twirling for five years, and was co-captain my senior year. I have been class president for four years. I have participated in FFA for three years and was elected president my senior year. During my time in FFA I competed in LDE events, CDE events, and I also raised and showed a heifer at many shows. I participated in science UIL for three years, advancing to the state meet once. I have been in the National Honor Society for three years, and in BETA club for one year.
My plans after high school are to attend Texas A&M University in their Biomedical Science program and obtain my degree in veterinary medicine.
