Shelbyville ISD Distribution of Instructional Packet #2, Other Information

April 1, 2020 - As we enter the month of April, Shelbyville ISD would like to share several important items associated with our plans to deal with the coronavirus situation.

SCHOOL CLOSURE AND COVID-19 INFORMATION

Governor Abbott has extended the closure of all Texas schools until May 4, 2020. As a result, Shelbyville ISD will remain closed until further notice (at least until May 4th). For information on COVID-19, go to the following sites offered by the Texas Education Agency: http://tea.texas.gov/staywell and www.texas.gov.covid19 .

INSTRUCTION

On Friday, April 3rd, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., parents will again drive up to their student’s campus and Instructional Packet #2 will be delivered to vehicles by campus personnel. Instructional Packet #1 should be dropped off by parents at the same time. If your child has not yet completed Instructional Packet #1, his/her work may be dropped off at a later date at the designated drop booth located near the lower entrance gate.

We appreciate how hard our students, parents, and teachers are working to continue the teaching-learning process under trying times. We know it has been a challenge to get all the lessons completed while dealing with all the other issues associated with the virus situation. To help lower some of the stress students and parents may have been encountering, Instructional Packet #2 builds in “extra” time for your student to complete his/her assignments. The packet contains approximately three weeks of lessons with four weeks of time built in to complete the work (Instructional Packet #2 covers the period ending May 1st). This should give you and your child an extra week to get his/her lessons completed or to review the packet’s materials. Please disregard the April 22nd instructional packet distribution date that was listed previously.

FOOD SERVICE

With the recent shelter in place declaration being issued, Shelbyville ISD is reducing the amount of time our food service workers will be away from their homes. Beginning Monday, April 6th, Shelbyville ISD’s Food Service will be providing an entire week’s worth of breakfast and lunch meals (ten meals) every Monday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for students 18 years old and younger. The meals will be distributed in front of the cafeteria loading dock area. Please remain in your vehicle at all times when picking up your student’s meals. Meals will be distributed only on Mondays.
