July 21, 2016 - The Shelbyville 13-14 Year Old Dixie team fought back from an opening round loss last weekend to win their second round game against Hawkins, and their third round contest with Hudson, thus gaining a semifinal match up with Henderson. Henderson advanced after defeating Shelbyville by an 8-2 advantage.
Henderson gained a 3-1 advantage in the first inning. This score held up until Henderson added another run to their tally in the fourth inning. They added two more runs in each the fifth and sixth.Shelbyville scored their final run in the top of the sixth inning when Bryce Wagstaff scored on a wild pitch.
The Dragons were recognized after the game with the Henry Whittsley Trophy for maximum team effort.
Henderson will advance to face the Panola County team Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. for the Dixie Elimination Tournament Championship.
