Shelbyville Man Loses Life in Nacogdoches Auto-Pedestrian Crash

February 4, 2022 - A Shelbyville man was involved in an auto-pedestrian crash in Nacogdoches County Thursday night, and according to the Texas Department of Public Safety lost his life as a result of the incident.

The report states the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) the auto-pedestrian crash took place on state Highway 21, approximately one-mile west of Chireno, yesterday Feb. 3, 2022.

Preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 6:25pm, a pedestrian was assisting with a 2014 Jeep SUV, which was disabled in the westbound lane. A 1999 Chevrolet passenger car was traveling west and took evasive action to the right to avoid striking the disabled vehicle. However, it struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the Chevrolet identified as Jessie Jacobs, 20, of Nacogdoches was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The pedestrian, identified as James Curtis Henry, 68, of Shelbyville, was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no additional information at this time.
