Shelbyville Moves District 22 Softball Record to 1-1 With 7-2 Win Over Garrison

The Shelbyville Lady Dragons gained a 7-2 run win over the visiting Garrison Lady Bulldogs on Friday, during District 22 2A play. The win moved the Lady Dragon’s conference mark to 1-1. They are 6-10-2 overall this season.

The Lady Bulldogs led 1-0 after Ashley Smelly reached base on a walk in the top of the first inning and later scored on a Lady Dragons error.

Shelbyville tied the game in the bottom of the first inning when Taylor Jones doubled to lead off the frame and was driven in by a Kate Lawson single. SHS took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Gracie Leach reached on a single to leftfield and later scored on a Garrison error.

Carsee Lovell, Neera Smith and Kara Jones each scored in the bottom of the third frame to extend Shelbyville’s lead to 5-1. Lawson reached base again on a single in the fourth inning and was later driven in by a Lovell double off the left-centerfield wall which gave SHS a 6-1 lead.

Lady Dragon Kara Jones led off the bottom of fifth with a double to the wall in leftfield and was later driven in for a score on a Emily Pharris single. This gave SHS a 7-1 advantage.

Garrison made the final score when Zoe Libby doubled and later scored on a fielder’s choice. Neither team scored during the seventh and final inning which saw the gave end with Shelbyville holding the 7-2 conference win.

The Lady Dragons have a bye for March 15 and they will next play on Friday, March 18, 2022 when the host the Beckville Lady Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. at Lady Dragons Ballpark.
