Shelbyville Spanish Classes Host Living Museum for Hispanic Heritage Month

October 23, 2017 - On October 12 some of the Shelbyville Spanish Classes put on a living museum for the elementary students of S.W. Carter Elementary.

The project was put together in order to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Each high school student chose an influential Hispanic figure that they wanted to research and pretend to be.

Senior J.T Harrington said, “My favorite thing about this project was getting to dress up and make little kids happy.” The purpose of this project was to introduce the students to Hispanic people that are considered to be some of the influential and iconic figures.

Freshmen Logan Williams said, “I never knew much about Roberto Walker, but now I’ll never forget him.” This was the first time a living museum has been put together for Hispanic Heritage Month at Shelbyville High School.

Sophomore Jeremiah Polley also stated that, “We are not the only ones that learned something, because the little kids also learned something.”

Ms. Peña and the students would like to thank the faculty and staff of all the campuses that made it possible to put this event together.
