Speed Limit Changing on SH 7

February 22, 2016 - LUFKIN – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to post new lower speed limit signs this week on a portion of SH 7 in Angelina County. The change becomes effective once signs are posted.

The speed limit will be reduced from 75 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour on SH 7 from SH 103 West to the Nacogdoches County line. Other areas of SH 7 will remain at the posted limits.

The change comes after a recent speed zone study of the roadway and the lower speed limit will help improve safety.

Motorists are advised to abide by the posted speed limit as well as other traffic control devices on this and all roadways. Remember to drive to conditions and watch for posted signs signaling speed changes, work areas and other important information.

Motorists are urged to stay alert and prepare to further reduce speed accordingly in fog, rain, or other inclement weather conditions that might impact driving conditions.
