October 10, 2025 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society, guests and members, will enjoy a collaboration between Zoie Whitton and Dow McWilliams Wednesday, October 15, at 2pm in Timpson Public Library annex.
Zoie, the daughter of Cecil and the late Kay Whitton, is a valued member of TAGHS and she is an avid researcher. She posted a number of pictures from Timpson's past on Facebook. Another TAGHS member, Paul Smith, suggested we should commemorate these photos at one of our meetings. Dow McWilliams graciously agreed to share his memories of these depicted sites.
Dow McWilliams, born and raised in Timpson, left there in 1961 to attend Stephen F. Austin State College, earning a BS in 1964 and a MS in 1966. He earned an MS from what was then known as East Texas State University. Mr. McWilliams' teaching career included teaching at Blinn College and SFA, as well as serving as guest lecturer at Texas Tech University. He retired from Brazosport College as chairman of the Division of Math and Sciences.
