January 7, 2025 - Laura Harris will address Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society Wednesday, January 15, at 2pm in the Timpson Public Library Annex. As marker chairman for Shelby County Historical Commission, she will explain the application process for obtaining a marker for elgible entities, such as churches and cemeteries.
Mrs. Harris is an educator, having served as a teacher and counselor in Gary and Martinsville schools. While perusing old photos and documents from Excelsior School with her mother and aunt, the idea of a reunion for the school was conceived. Her aunt was a principal for Excelsior. The reunion was a success, and her involvement with it, subsequently, led Mrs. Harris to her current role as marker chairman for the Shelby County Historical Commission.
