TAGHS to Host Speaker on Researching Family History Via Courthouse Records

July 10, 2020 - On Wednesday, July 15 at 2pm Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will host Judi Wells as our speaker. Ms. Wells will share information on using courthouse records, such as oil and mineral lease documents, to research your family history.

Ms. Wells, the daughter of our own TAGHS member, Jean Wells, earned her registered nurse credentials from Angelina College at an early age. She used these qualifications several years in a number of roles in a Nacogdoches hospital.

Eventually, she earned a degree in political science and history from Stephen F. Austin State University. From this point she went on to graduate Magna Cum Laud from University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Wells was associated with Fulbright and Jaworski in Houston before working with Zelesky Law Firm in Lufkin. She presently is associated with Skelton, Slusher, Barnhill, Watkins, and Wells in Nacogdoches. Her specialty is oil, gas, and mineral law.

In addition, Ms. Wells serves at Stephen F Austin State University as adjunct faculty member in the Department of Business Law and Negotiations. She is also a certified online instructor.

Ms. Wells was also employed by Delta Airlines during her varied career.

The meeting will be held in the Timpson Public Library Annex. Access to the library will be limited to this area. Guidelines require attendees wear face masks.
