Tenaha Breaks into Win Column with 41-0 Homecoming Victory over Linden-Kildare

The 0-3 Tenaha Tigers varsity football team broke into the win column with a 41-0 point win over the visiting Linden-Kildare Tigers on Saturday during Tenaha’s 2024 Homecoming game. Before the football game, Renny and Sara Eaves were inducted into Tenaha’s Hall of Honor, and senior student Jaydaleeya Curtis was awarded the Homecoming Queen Crown.

Linden-Kildare started the game by onside kicking the football to Tenaha and they recovered the ball but was forced to punt the ball back to THS with 10:30 minutes left in the first quarter. Tenaha senior receiver Avanta Fredieu scored on an 18-yard touchdown run to give THS a 6-0 lead and the Tigers added a 2-point conversion to go up 8-0 with 9:05 still left in the opening period.

After another LDHS punt senior quarterback Bri’Kelian Kenney found junior wideout Jatavious Malone for a 39-yard scoring reception which gave THS a 14-0 advantage, after a failed extra point try at the 6:24 mark of the first quarter. Kenney found senior tight end Seth Stokes for a 33-yard touchdown strike. Senior kicker Jayden Beatriz added an extra point kick to give Tenaha a 21-0 lead with 4:23 left first period. Stokes scored his second touchdown of the game when he took a LKHS fumble 97-yards for a touchdown return with just26 seconds remaining in the first stanza. Beatriz added on another extra point conversion kick and THS led 28-0.

Kenney scored on a quarterback keeper run for a touchdown from 19 yards away to help give the Tigers a 35-0 lead with 3:08 left in the second quarter of play. The second half saw Tenaha add another touchdown to the scoreboard on their way to taking a 41-0 win, their first of the season.

Tenaha will host the Lovelady Lions next Friday, September 27, 2024 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff at Raymond Jackson Stadium. Lovelady is 2-2 after falling at Garrison by a 28-14 score on Friday.
