Tenaha City Council Regular Meeting Agenda, Aug. 24

August 18, 2026 - Notice is hereby given that the governing body of the City of Tenaha will hold a regular meeting on August 24, 2026, 5:30pm, at the Tenaha Municipal Building located at 238 North George Bowers Drive Tenaha, Texas which the following subjects will be considered:

1. Call to order and establish a quorum

2. Invocation

3. Pledge

4. Citizens input

This time is provided for members of the public to address the City Council on items appearing on the agenda or matters not listed on the agenda. Each speaker is limited to three minutes. A citizen’s input form must be completed and filed with the City Secretary prior to the meeting.

5. Department head reports Public Works, Municipal Court, Police Department, Fire Department, City Secretary.

6. Discuss and possible action with approval of the minutes for the July 2026 City Council meetings

7. Discuss and possible action on approval of the financials for July 2026.

8. Discuss and possible action on approval of a 12-month term loan with 1st National Bank of Hughes Springs in the amount to borrow of $39,148.00 WITH 5.75 interest rate for the MIT 2016 Floods State Mitigation Competition match funds for Contract # 22-082-014-D216.

9. Discuss and possible action on mutual aid agreement between Tenaha ISD, Shelby County and Tenaha Police Department to allow Tenaha PD to conduct traffic stops outside the city limits on the bus routes of Tenaha ISD.

10. Enter closed session: 551.071. Consultation With Attorney; Closed Meeting A governmental body may not conduct a private consultation with its attorney except: (1) when the governmental body seeks the advice of its attorney about: (A) (B) pending or contemplated litigation; or a settlement offer; or (2) on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with this chapter 551.074. Personnel Matters; Closed Meeting (a) This chapter does not require a governmental body to conduct an open meeting: (1) to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee; or (2) to hear a complaint or charge against an officer or employee. (b) Subsection (a) does not apply if the officer or employee who is the subject of the deliberation or hearing requests a public hearing. The Council reserves the right to retire to executive session concerning any of the items listed on this agenda whenever it is considered necessary and legally justified under the Texas Open Meetings Act.
