Tenaha Holiday Hoops Action Sees Two Local Teams Fall in Close Tournament Games

Tenaha Holiday Hoops saw both the Timpson Lady Bears and Tenaha Tigers suffer their first losses of the tourney. These teams will now move on to the consolation side brackets of the event.

The Lady Bears fell in a close battle to the Huntington Lady Devilettes by a 32-27 score at Timpson’s Bears Gymnasium on Wednesday. The game was close throughout. Timpson was down 6-5 points midway through the first period and 10-11 at the end of the first frame. They fought hard in the second period outscoring HHS 8-5. The Lady Bears took a narrow 18-16 lead into the halftime break.

The third quarter was low scoring with Timpson scoring 3 points and Huntington scoring 4. THS took a 21-20 advantage into the final quarter.

Huntington outpaced Timpson by a 12-6 point margin to gain the win with the final 32-27 score. The Lady Devilettes were led by Kyra Anderson with 12 points. Timpson was led by D’Chelle Garner with 13 and McKenna Wynn with 10 points. The Lady Bears will next play Normangee at Timpson Bears Gym at 4:30 p.m. today.

The Tenaha Tigers fell to the Flatonia Bulldogs by a 58-53 score. It was a close and hardfought battle. Flatonia held a narrow 22-17 lead at the end of the first period and a 34-29 lead at the half.

Tenaha cut the Bulldogs lead to two points at 44-42 by the end of the third stanza. Flatonia was able to outscore THS 14-11 in the final quarter to earn the 5 point win.

Tenaha was led by Pooh Moore with 19 points. Brikelian Kenny added 16 points to the Tigers tally sheet.

The Bulldogs were led by Duke Sodek with 14 points. The Tigers will face county rival Shelbyville High tonight at Tiger’s Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
