December 3, 2018 - Each year Tenaha ISD students prepare for the annual UIL Academic Competition. Over 70 students participate in a variety of contest such as Dictionary Skills, Math, Spelling, Maps and Graphs, Listening and many more. Teachers have already begun team selections and practices.
This year’s competition will take place on December 11th and 13th at Joaquin ISD. Students from Joaquin, Timpson, Garrison, and Tenaha will be competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals. Schools earn points for placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in various competitions. The points are cumulative and at the end of the competitions the points are tallied, and the school with the most points wins the Academic UIL competition.
Participating in the Academic UIL provides an opportunity for our students to explore academic strengths that may help them in the future. “This contest gives our students a chance to compete against other students in academics. These students are pushing themselves to learn more and to be the best,” stated Brenda Farmer, Assistant Principal of Tenaha ISD.
