Gary High School on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 –
The Tenaha Lady Tigers and the Tigers each took District 23 2A varsity basketball wins over Gary High School on Tuesday at Bobcats Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bobcats by a 62-31 score. The Tigers boys team defeated the Bobcats by a much narrower 43-40 score.
The first nine minutes of the girl’s game saw the Lady Tigers jump out to an impressive 14-0 lead. By the end of the first quarter THS led 22-5. Tenaha’s lead was 38-13 at the halftime buzzer. THS led by 37 points at the end of the third stanza as they held a 58-21 advantage.
Two Lady Tigers put up double figures scoring. Lucy Giles scored 20 and Jasmine Dodd added 10 points to the THS tally sheet. Gary was led by Carly Linebarger with 17 points.
The boy’s game was close throughout. The game was knotted at 10-10 midway through the opening frame. The second quarter started with the teams tied at 15-15 and ended with the teams tied at 27-27. THS led Gary by a slim 36-34 score at the end of the third period.
Jatyrian Moore led THS with 16 points. Dustin Baker led Gary with 16.
Tenaha is now 13-5 overall and they are 6-1 in conference play. Tenaha will host the Timpson Bears on Friday, January 29, 2022 at the THS Special Events Center. Junior Varsity tips off at 4:30 p.m. with Varsity action to follow.
