Tenaha Tigers Announce 2022 Homecoming Court

October 13, 2022 - Tenaha High School announces the 2022 Homecoming duchesses and sweethearts. On Saturday, October 15, 2022 the new queen will be crowned by the 2021 Reigning Queen Christal Sparks during the coronation ceremony at 6:30pm before the Tenaha Tigers play the Alto Yellowjacks in the homecoming game at 7pm. The homecoming parade is at 2pm.


2022 Duchesses Lilliunna Horton, Angelica Sandoval, Leticia Balladares, Jasmine Santos

Senior Duchess - Leticia Balladares-Lopez

The Senior Class of 2023 is represented this year by Duchess, Leticia Balladares-Lopez. Leticia is the daughter of Maglori Lopez and Jose Ballardares. She is escorted by her father, Jose Ballardares. Leticia has been a part of the BETA Club for 4 years, Junior Chamber of Commerce for 3 years, and on the Lady Tiger Soccer team for 2 years. She is also a dual credit student and continues to remain on the All A Honor Roll. In the future, Leticia plans to attend Trinity University and major in Biology. Upon graduation from Trinity University, she hopes to attend medical school and become an Obstetrician Gynecologist (OB/GYN).


Junior Duchess - Angelica Sandoval

The Junior Class is represented this year by Duchess, Angelica Sandoval. Angelica is the daughter of Ciro and Angelica Sandoval; she is being escorted by her father. Angelica is very active at Tenaha High School as she is a member of BETA Club for 3 years where she serves as Pledge Captain, Junior Chamber of Commerce for 2 years, FFA for 3 years, and is currently a Student Teacher’s Aide as a part of our Education & Training endorsement. She is also a part of the Tiger Cross Country and Soccer teams. Angelica has served as both Class Secretary and Treasurer, is a part of the dual credit program and on the All A Honor Roll. Angelica’s future plans include attending college to obtain her Bachelors of Science degree and pursue a career in the optometry field.


Sophomore Duchess - Lilliunna Horton

Our Sophomore Class Duchess is Lilliunna Horton. Lilliunna is the daughter of Sherretta Thomas and Kenneth Walker, Jr. She will be escorted by her father, K.J. Walker. Lilli has been on the Lady Tiger Varsity Basketball team for 2 years, Varsity Cheerleader for 2 years, Track & Field for 1 year, and played Tennis this past year as well. She has also been a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for 2 years, and is a part of the State Champion Roarin’ Band from Tigerland. Lilli plans to attend Texas A&M University to pursue a medical degree. She plans to work in Cardiothoracics understanding the importance of medicine and hopes to someday be a part of the “cure”.


Freshman Duchess - Aranza “Jasmine” Santos

The Freshman Class of 2026 is represented by Duchess, Aranza “Jasmine” Santos. Jasmine is the daughter of Laura Santos and Carlos Cuellar. She is escorted by Brandon Castillo. Jasmine has been a part of the basketball team for 2 years, Track & Field for 2 years, Cross Country for 1 year and is beginning her first year as a Lady Tiger soccer player. Jasmine has also been a part of the Junior Chamber of Commerce for 2 years and has been involved in the band program since the 5th grade; she is proud to have been a member of the State Champion Marching Band in 2021. In the future, Jasmine plans to attend college to obtain her Nursing degree. She also plans to travel.



2022 Sweethearts Makalie Black, Emily Perales, Jessica Aguilar, Kim Cave, Emily Chambliss


Band Sweetheart - Emily Chambliss

The Roarin’ Band from Tigerland is represented this year by the Band Sweetheart, Emily Chambliss. Emily is the daughter of Robbie and Kasey Chambliss; she is escorted by Robbie Chambliss. Emily is proud to have been a member of the State Champion Marching Tiger Band program for 4 years. She is currently first chair saxophone. Emily has also participated in Cross Country and been a member of the BETA Club. Emily plans to attend Tyler Junior College upon graduating high school, to earn an associates degree working towards becoming a Surgical Scrub Technician. Emily says she has a passion for helping others and would love to be able to pursue this career pathway in honor of her beloved brother, Klayton Lewis.


BETA Sweetheart - Kim Cave

The BETA Club is proud to recognize their 2022 Sweetheart, Kim Cave. Kim is the daughter of Dave and Pahgna Cave and is currently a senior at THS. She is escorted by her father. Kim is a 4 year member of the BETA Club, part of the State Champion Marching Band for 3 years, on The Tiger Yearbook staff, and was selected to be a part of the Tenaha Leadership Academy this year. She has also been a dual credit student since her sophomore year in high school. In the future, Kim plans to attend the University of Houston to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Biology. She hopes to someday pursue a career as a Forensic Pathologist.


Football Sweetheart - Makalie Black

Our Football Program is represented this year by Football Sweetheart and Senior, Varsity Cheerleader, Makalie Black. Makalie is the daughter of Yolanda Miles and Jamie Black. She is escorted by her father, Jamie. Makalie has been involved as a member of The Tiger Yearbook staff for 2 years, basketball team for 4 years and has been a cheerleader for 3 years. Makalie plans to attend Panola College to earn her LVN certification transitioning toward her Registered Nursing license to become a Pediatric Nurse some day.


Junior Chamber of Commerce Sweetheart - Jessica Aguilar

The Junior Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize their Sweetheart, Jessica Aguilar. Jessica is the daughter of Mario Aguilar and Carmen Aguilar. She is escorted by  her father, Mario. Jessica has been in the band for 8 years and has been recognized as an All Region player, she has played on the Lady Tiger soccer team for 3 years, tennis for 2 years, and has served as Class President for 4  years. Jessica is also a 5 year member of the BETA Club and is currently in her second year as a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Jessica plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler to study Mechanical Engineering.


Yearbook Sweetheart - Emily Perales

The Tiger 2023 Yearbook staff is represented this year by Sweetheart, Emily Perales. Emily is the daughter of Orlando and Maria Perales and is currently a senior at Tenaha High School. Emily is escorted by her father, Orlando. Emily has been a tremendous asset to the yearbook staff and is in her second year on staff. She currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief. Emily plans to attend Panola College upon high school graduation to complete her basics. Then she hopes to transfer to the University of Houston to pursue a degree in Forensic Pathology.
