Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association Conference in Tyler

August 17, 2018 - The Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association and the Smith County Agrilife Extension Service are sponsoring a Christmas tree growers workshop on August 24 from 1pm to 5pm at the Holiday Inn at 5701 Broadway in Tyler.

The course is designed to provide valuable information for those persons interested in Christ mas tree growing from site selection to marketing. Bob Jones of Spring Creek farms will be the lead instructor with experienced growers Francis Frederick, Jim Hingst, Steve Huebner and Archie Abrameit giving presentations on site selection, variety selection, soil considerations, planting, weed and insect control, diseases, equipment needs, pruning and shearing, irrigation and marketing.

The program will close with a grower panel allowing the attendees an opportunity to field additional questions. The course is tailored for beginning growers or those investigating the Christmas tree industry but is open to all.
