The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Football Team defeated the visiting Lovelady Lions by a 41-18 score.  Six touchdowns by junior Jeremy Patton during the game helped the Tigers overcome trailing in the early stage of the game. The win moved the Tiger’s record to 2-2 overall for the season and started their District 11 2A Division II mark at 1-0.

Lion Keivon Skinner brought down a touchdown pass and scored from 13 yards out to give Lovelady their first lead with 4:02 left in the first quarter. The Lions 2-point conversion attempt failed and they led 6-0.

Tenaha took a 7-6 lead with 1:33 left in the first period when Jeremy Patton scored on a 1-yard run. Manuel Laredo added on an extra point to give the Tiger a 7-6 advantage. The Tigers never looked back as Laredo added four more extra-point kicks after Patton scores.

Patton helped the Tigers boost their lead to 14-6 with 10:23 left in the second period with a 30-yard rushing touchdown. He pulled down a pass for a receiving touchdown from Tristan Claiborne to give Tenaha a 28-6 lead with just 17 seconds left before halftime.

Lovelady running back Lataviouce Easterling broke loose on a touchdown run just before halftime to pull the Lions closer and Tenaha led 28-12 at the midway break.

Neither team scored during the third stanza. Patton added another Tiger touchdown to his resume when he plowed in on a 1-yard run to cap a 16-yard Tenaha scoring drive with 5:23 left in the game. THS led 35-12. Moments later Patton once again scored after he picked off a Lions pass near the endzone and raced the distance 99 yards for a score that boosted Tenahas’ lead to 41-12 with 4:05 left in the contest.

Esterling rushed for the game’s final score and helped the Lions cut the Tiger’s lead to 41-18 with just 3 minutes left in the game.
