Tigers Take District Wins over Bears and Lady Bears at Home

The Tenaha Lady Tigers, and the Tigers, each took District 23 2A wins at home on Saturday as they competed in varsity basketball competition with visiting Timpson High School.

The Lady Tigers found themselves tied 12-12 with the Lady Bears at the end the first quarter of play.

Tenaha built a 4-point lead by the midway point of the second period and took a 27-21 lead into the intermission at the halftime break.

The Lady Tigers offense really got rolling in the third stanza as they outpaced the Lady Bears by a 15-6 margin. Tenaha took a 42-27 advantage into the final frame. Ultimately the Lady Tigers took a 56-41 conference win. The win moved their season mark to 10-1 and their District 23 record is at 3-0.

The Lady Bears conference mark is at 2-1 and they are 6-4 overall for the season.

Alisa Dodd led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. McKenna Wynn led Timpson with a 16-point outing.

In boys varsity play the Tenaha Tigers led 19-10 at the end of the first period. They led 28-22 at the midway break. Each team held their ground in the third stanza as they both scored 13 points apiece. They Tigers led 41-35 going into the final quarter. The final score saw Tenaha holding a 55-42 advantage.

Pooh Moore led Tenaha with 19 points. Tre Keggler added 14 points to the Tigers tally. Terry Bussey led Timpson with 12 points for the day.

Tenaha is 2-4 for the season and they hold a 1-1 District 23 2A mark. Timpson is at 4-4 this year and 1-1 in conference play.

Tenaha will go to San Augustine High School on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 where JV and Varsity will play and JV will tip off at 4:30 p.m.

Timpson will host Joaquin High on Tuesday with JV tipping off at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity following.
