Tigers Take Homecoming, Title Game over Bearkats

The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Football Team took a 36-6 District 11 Class 2A-2 win over the Cushing Bearkats on Friday. The win gave the Tigers a 5-0 conference mark with one game remaining and they have cliched the conference title. Tenaha stands at 6-2 overall this season. This was their 2020 Homecoming contest. Senior Drew Henry was crowned as this year's queen.

Neither team was able to score in the early going. The Tiger’s defense was able to catch the Bearkats inside the endzone at the start of the second period which gave THS a 2-0 point lead with 11:54 left in the first half. After Cushing free-kicked the ball back to the Tigers. On the Tigers first play from scrimmage Markee Rasberry took the handoff and raced 70 yards for a THS touchdown. Manuel Laredo kicked an extra point and the Tigers led 9-0 with 11:39 left in the second period.

The Tigers got a 2-yard touchdown run from senior Tre Keggler with 3:03 left in the second frame which allowed THS to take a 16-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

Rasberry scored his second touchdown on a 60-yard run with 9:20 left in the third stanza and gave Tenaha a 22-0 advantage.

Eddie Davis scored Cushing’s only points with a 3-yard scoring run with 6:02 left in the third quarter.

Keggler added another touchdown to his resume with just 10 seconds remaining in the third period to help give THS a 29-6 advantage.

The game’s final score came from a 28-yard touchdown pass from Trendon Claiborne to Tray Tutt with under 7 minutes remaining in the contest. Laredo added another extra point kick which gave the Tigers a 36-6 lead.
