June 19, 2023 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society welcomes our own Marilyn Corder on Wednesday, June 21 at 2pm as she speaks to the group about Frontier Days celebrations from the past. She will also provide insights into the extent of the planning and behind the scenes work necessary to produce a successful celebration.
A potential speaker for TAGHS is asked to provide a brief biography which we will use to introduce the speaker. Marilyn, not one to toot her own horn, said she does not have anything of note to be said about her. Therefore I shall share some of my observations about Marilyn. The old adage, "If you want something done, ask a busy person," accurately describes this lady. She did not go quietly into that good retirement. Marilyn has busied herself in her church and community. She has been instrumental in bringing Frontier Days celebrations and other Chamber of Commerce activities to fruition for years. A Timpson Public Library volunteer and board member, Marilyn has also been Timpson's municipal judge. She knows a good recipe when she sees it, and may have even written a cookbook. I understand that Marilyn did not grow up in Timpson, but was a frequent visitor to her Bates and Hudson relatives who did live here.
If you and your family enjoy activities such as Frontier Days, please attend and learn how you can help insure they can continue in the future. I often hear laments about the lack of activities or amenities for children in our town, but we need younger people stepping up to share the work.

The Timpson Area Genealogical Society meets at 2PM on the third Wednesday of each month in the meeting room of the Timpson Public Library on the corner of Austin and Bremond Streets in downtown Timpson.
