Timpson Defeats Groveton En-route to Area Playoff Match-up Against Frankston

November 16, 2022 - The Timpson Bear football team traveled down to Jasper’s Bulldog Stadium this past Thursday to take on the 3-7 Groveton Indians in a 2A Bi-District matchup. The Bears came out fast scoring 32 points in the first quarter while keeping Groveton scoreless. The Bears would go on to score 14 points in the second quarter bringing the halftime tally to 46-0. After the half, many of the Bear’s starters found themselves on the sideline, which allowed some young talent to have much-desired playing time. The third quarter would see Groveton score 3 points off of a field goal, bringing the score to 46-3. The Bears would punch it in again with 2:05 left in the third quarter making it 53-6. The fourth quarter would only see one touchdown by the Bears, bringing the final score to 60-3.

The Bears are the District Champions of District 11 and went into the contest boasting a 10-0 record. Groveton went into the game as the fourth-place team out of District 12 with a 3-7 record.

Timpson will now face the Frankston Indians on Friday, November 18th at Rusk Eagle Stadium. The Bears and Indians are no strangers, having played each other the past two years during the regular season and playoffs. Frankston comes into this week's game as the second-place team in District 10 with a 9-2 overall record.

Kickoff is at 7PM and Timpson will be the home team. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. THSCA, senior citizen, and district passes will be accepted.
